It’s your choice:
shame in isolation
or
vulnerable connection
As I was working on a memoir essay today, I realized the message woven through it was more profound than I’d originally believed.
It turns out, my story is an illustration of how clinging to our egos can prevent us from making the critical connections in life – the ones that bring us joy.
You know, each of us is the author of our own happiness. If you want to expand the joy in your life, it’s as simple and as difficult as this: lay down your defenses! Release that death-grip on your ego. Admit your humanity, to include your fallibility. And watch magic unfold.
By releasing our defensiveness in relationship with others, we open the doors for straight communication, raw vulnerability, and the purest connection.
This – THIS – is the meaning of life.
